Our Mission
Department of Periodontology in Stomatological Hospital of Shandong Universitywasindependently establishedin1992. Nowadays, it has grown up to a professional periodontal center comprising periodontal disease treatment, teaching, and scientific research. Following the policies and procedures of Shandong University, all staff strive toimplementpatient-centered care,toprovide high-quality student-centered undergraduate and graduate programs, andtoconduct periodontal related research activities in a satisfyingworking environment. Currently, it has 23 dental treatment chairs and is the largest periodontal specialist clinic in Shandong Province.andThe department iscommittedtopromotingoral health, especially periodontal health and quality-of-lifeofthe wholepeople.

Our staff Structure
Themedical staff in the department of periodontologyconsists of 33 professionals, including 18 doctors, 5 cleansing staff, and 10 nurses. The doctors comprise of 1 well-known expert, 4 chief physicians, 3 deputy chief physicians, 3 attending physicians and 7 resident doctors. Of them, 10 have doctoral degrees, 9 have overseas studying experience, 4 are qualified to supervise doctoral candidates, and 6 are qualified to recruit master students. Each year the department trained lots of graduatesand studentscoming forcontinuing education.
The Department of Periodontology is an important branch of the Committee of Periodontology in Chinese Stomatological Association. 1 deputy chairman, 2 council members, and 2 committee members work here. It is also the leading branch of the Provincial Doctors Association of Periodontologist and Shandong Provincial Stomatological Association Periodontal Director of the Medical Branch.
Research
The Department of Periodontology has undertaken 12 National Natural Science Foundation projects and about 25 provincial fundedprojects. Many people have won Shandong Excellent Teaching Achievement Award and the Shandong Medical Science and Technology Progress Award. More than 300 papers have been published, including approximately 100 SCI papers. Many patents have been approved.
Teaching
The Department of Periodontology is responsible for the education of periodontology to five-year undergraduates, the graduate students, and the doctoral candidates. The periodontology course is one of the first batches ofQuality Courses ofShandong Province. We are responsible for the standardized training of residents and the continuing education of clinical doctors from various cities of Shandong Province. Each year, tens of students from all over the province are trainedandat least one session of the special clinical training program for periodontal disease organizedbythe China Stomatological Association.It has played an active role in driving the advancement of the diagnosis and treatment of provincial periodontal diseases.
